In a GoFundMe campaign, Prentice Spriggs' family identified him as the victim found on the 1600 block of Ethel Street around 2:45 p.m. on May 17.
"He was left on the street, robbed of the dignity he deserved," writes Prentice's daughter, Honesty Davis. "To us, he was so much more than that. Despite the turbulent nature of our shared experiences, his unwavering affection remained a beacon of light in our lives, a testament to the enduring strength of paternal love."
Prentice battled addiction following the loss of both parents, Honesty said. Music, and the love for his children, however, remained a constant source of comfort for him.
"Despite this, he remained our beloved father, and nothing could change that," she added. "As we confront the harsh reality of his untimely passing, our hearts ache with the injustice of his departure."
Police said only that Spriggs' death was considered suspicious. An arrest had not been announced as of press time. Click here to donate to the family of Prentice Spriggs.
